The sauna and steam room are the most enjoyable way to warm up before a massage or scrub. But time in the heat has its own rhythm.
How long should you stay?
For healthy adults, 8–15 minutes at a time is usually enough. If it's your first time, start shorter. If you feel dizzy or unwell, come out straight away.
Why rest?
After leaving the heat, your body needs time to return to its normal temperature. Sitting for 10–15 minutes somewhere warm (not hot) and drinking water makes the experience more comfortable.
Things to keep in mind
- Don't use the sauna or steam room after drinking alcohol.
- Don't go in on an empty stomach or right after a big meal.
- If you are pregnant or have heart, circulation or blood pressure problems, ask your doctor first.
- Drink plenty of water.
Sauna + scrub + massage
Warm up, cleanse, then relax: that is the classic flow of a spa visit. You can build your own package in that order.
