For many people living or working in Başakşehir, Kayaşehir and Bahçeşehir, a good massage is the easiest way to shake off the week. But "massage" is not just one thing. The pressure, the oil, the length and the focus areas differ from one type to another. This guide puts the massages we offer at EPHRA Spa side by side to help you choose the one that suits you best.
Start with three questions
- How do I want to feel? Deeply relaxed, or less tension in a particular area?
- How much pressure do I like? Soft, flowing touch, or slow, firm pressure?
- How much time do I have? A short 30-minute break, or a 75-minute ritual?
Massage types at a glance
Classic massage
Long, flowing, rhythmic strokes over the whole body. The pressure is medium and your therapist adjusts it to you. The best place to start if it's your first massage.
Deep tissue massage
Slow, firm pressure into the deeper muscle layers. Popular with people who have felt tension in the same area for a long time. You can always say how much pressure you want; pain is not the goal.
Aromatherapy massage
A soft massage with jasmine, mango, ocean or Kenzo aromatherapy oils. Ideal for calming the mind and a feeling of deep rest.
Hot stone massage
Heated smooth stones are placed on points of the body and used in the massage. The warmth helps the muscles relax more easily; it is especially loved on cold winter days.
Sports massage
Focuses on hard-working muscle groups, as preparation before training or recovery afterwards. Easy to add to the routine of our fitness members.
Reflexology and head-neck-shoulder massage
Short, effective options for when time is tight. Reflexology focuses on the soles of the feet; the head-neck-shoulder massage on the load built up at a desk.
Gold, candle and cellulite massage
Our newest massages: the luxurious gold massage with an oil containing gold particles, the warm candle massage with melted massage-candle oil, and the brisk regional cellulite massage focusing on the hips, legs and abdomen. All three take 50 minutes.
Combine your massage with a scrub
A traditional scrub before your massage turns the visit into a classic hammam ritual. At EPHRA you can add a scrub when building your own package, and choose the VIP couples room for two if you like.
